Verizon Wireless activated 38 new 4G LTE sites in Central Florida in July, the company announced on Aug. 9.
Sixteen of the new cell sites are in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. The firm also turned on 15 new sites in Lake and Polk counties and seven in Volusia County.
Statewide, Verizon activated 116 new 4G LTE sites in July.
?We?re continuing to swiftly install new sites and facilities to strengthen 4G LTE coverage and services,? said Frank Wise, network executive director for the Verizon Wireless Florida region, in a prepared statement. ?This advanced technology has been an immense hit with mobile, tech-savvy Florida consumers, and we?re always working hard to stay far ahead of customer demand ? and our competitors.?
Verizon Wireless is a joint venture Verizon Communications (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) and Vodafone (LSE, Nasdaq: VOD), and is headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J. It has more than 73,000 employees nationwide.
